Get Started
Install AckTracked for Slack, track one message, and confirm your first acknowledgement. For day-to-day mechanics—Tracking, Acknowledging, and Following—see How it works. For what AckTracked is and the problem it solves, see the FAQ.
Already installed? Track your first message.
Install in your Slack Workspace
Click Add to Slack above and approve the app for your workspace.
Not a Slack admin? Click here for instructions on how to ask your admin to install AckTracked
If you are not a Slack workspace admin, you can still start install process. Click Add to Slack above — Slack can send the request to a workspace admin for approval. When approval is required, Slack may ask you for a short custom message (and some workspaces’ Owners require a comment).
Use the sample message below in either place:
- Paste it into Slack’s install / approval request custom-message field when that step appears.
- Send it directly to a Workspace Owner or app manager (Slack DM, email, or other) if you want to ask first, the form step isn’t available, or you want to give context separately.
Copy this message:
Hi [name], Could you please approve a Slack app called AckTracked?
The problem I’m trying to solve: when I post a message that the team needs to see and/or act on, I have no reliable way to tell who’s actually seen it. Reactions are a partial signal at best and no reaction doesn’t mean not seen. So I’m either chasing people one by one or just assuming.
Here is a short blurb from acktracked explaining the service:
AckTracked lets the sender of a message request acknowledgement from the people they @-mention. The sender sees who has acknowledged and who is still outstanding, and can send reminders only to people still pending. The app only operates in channels it has been explicitly invited to.

Removal: standard Slack app removal from workspace app settings (see Privacy Policy / FAQ).
New workspaces get free tracks to try it; when those run out, we can decide if it’s worth continuing.
Thanks!
Track your first message
- Post the message your team should read—a normal Slack message with at least one
@useror@groupmention besides yourself to start tracking:
- @acktracked mention — Include
@acktrackedin the message or in a thread reply on that message, along with your mentions. For example:
@alice @ops-team Please confirm you have seen this incident update. @acktracked
- Message shortcut — Right-click (or long-press on mobile) the message, open More message shortcuts, and choose the AckTracked action.
To review progress or change settings, open Status on the public in-thread lifecycle status message (visible to everyone in the thread), use the message shortcut, or—if you started the track and still see it—Status on the private in-thread tracker notice; then choose Options. Available options include:
- Track type: Acknowledge Track (the default) or Claim Track
- Reminder cadence, which defaults to every 15 minutes (adjustable from 5 minutes up to 8 hours)
See How it works — Tracking for more information.
Your first acknowledgement
Mentioned teammates get a private prompt in the thread. They can use that prompt, react with 👍, or click the ☑️ reaction AckTracked added when tracking started.
When someone acknowledges, you will see updated status on the message and in the thread. Open App Home from the AckTracked app in your sidebar to see what you are tracking and what you still owe.

First track not working? Confirm the message has @user or @group mentions and that you have access to that channel. If AckTracked is not in the channel yet, you’ll be prompted to invite it when you try to track.
